Every Mac ships with sensible defaults and a handful of settings that are one toggle away from being much better. These are the ones we change first.
1. Three-finger drag
Accessibility → Pointer Control → Trackpad Options. Enable three-finger drag. Selecting text and moving windows becomes a single gesture.
2. Tap to click
Trackpad → Point & Click. It reduces wear on the trackpad and feels natural within a day.
3. Hot corners, but only two
Use the bottom-left corner for Mission Control and the bottom-right for Desktop. Two is a tool; four is a party trick.
- Turn on 'Show recent applications in Dock' for quick context switching.
- Set the clock to show seconds only when you actually need them.
- Enable 'Reduce motion' if animations make you seasick.
- Use a larger menu bar for readability on ultrawide displays.
