Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information ElegantMac collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Last updated October 1, 2026
1. The short version
We collect the minimum needed to run your account, provide the apps you use, and support you when something goes wrong. We do not sell personal data, build advertising profiles, or use your files to train shared models.
Some features work entirely on your device. When a feature needs a server, we explain why and ask for your consent in the app.
2. What we collect
- Account data: your name, email address, password hash, and language preference.
- Purchase data: the apps you have licensed, your receipts, and a payment token from our payment processor. We never store your full card number.
- Support data: messages you send to our team, including the email address you use and any details you choose to share.
- Technical data: minimal request logs used to keep the service secure and reliable, such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps.
We do not collect your photos, keystrokes, screen contents, or the contents of your files for analytics. If you use a feature that processes a file, that processing happens as described in the app.
3. How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and to sign you in.
- To provide the apps and features you have licensed.
- To process payments, invoices, and refunds.
- To answer support requests and send important account notices.
- To detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- To send the newsletter or product updates you have opted into.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract, our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe, your consent, or compliance with a legal obligation.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active. After deletion, we remove personal data within 30 days, except for records we must keep for tax, accounting, or legal reasons. Backups are purged on a rolling 90-day schedule.
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Support messages are kept for two years so we can maintain a useful history.
6. How we protect it
We encrypt data in transit, hash passwords with a memory-hard algorithm, restrict internal access on a need-to-know basis, and review our infrastructure at least annually. Our Mac apps are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
No system is perfect. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities without undue delay, and explain what happened in plain language.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can update your name and preferences in Settings, or write to privacy@elegantmac.com.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with one click in every email. We will never make you call or jump through hoops to exercise a privacy right.
9. Children and international transfers
ElegantMac is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Our team is based in Asia, and our providers may process data in other countries under appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
10. Contact
Questions, requests, or concerns about privacy can be sent to privacy@elegantmac.com. We aim to respond within five business days. You can also write to us at hello@elegantmac.com.
